Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease: An Update

Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease is a common disorder in which reflux of stomach contents causes symptoms and/or complications and affects quality of life. Heartburn and regurgitation are the characteristic symptoms and diagnosis can be made with typical symptoms. Acid suppression is the mainstay of treatment.
Comparison of the Prevalences of Demodex folliculorum in Rosacea and Seborrhoeic Dermatitis with Standardized Skin Surface Biopsy

There is no comparative study in the literature regarding Demodex folliculorum prevalence in rosacea (RSC) and seborrhoeic dermatitis (SD) using standardized skin surface biopsy. Our study showed that D folliculorum prevalance in RSC was three times higher than SD, and D folliculorum may play a more important role in the aetiopathogenesis of RSC than SD.
Is There an Association between Vitamin D Level and Microvascular Complications of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus?

Although vitamin D deficiency is more common in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus than healthy subjects, no relationship between vitamin D deficiency and microvascular complications of diabetes was found in this study.

Bronchial asthma is a common respiratory disease. This study aimed to explore the effect of 1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3) on the expression of interleukin-17 and -21 in asthma by establishing an asthma mice model.

Bcl-2 protein plays an important role in the growth of tumours through preventing the normal course of apoptotic cell death. CD34 is an indicator of the new vascularization of the lesion. Leiomyomata of Saudi patients expressed upgrading of Bcl-2 and proved the increased vascularity of this tumour as expressed by CD34.
A Bio-computing Analysis of the Resting-to-pulsed Conformational Changes in Cytochrome c Oxidase

Cytochrome c oxidase catalyses the reduction of oxygen to water at two vastly different rates determined by the prevailing conformation. We employed bio-computing to view the enzyme’s oxygen/ligand binding site but found no evidence that this site cycles between an opened and closed position as predicted by others.
