which your computer can be plugged. Your computer needs to have
a Network Interface Card and you also need to have a UTP drop cable.
If any of the following are missing, then you should contact the

Connectivity to UWIMona’s backbone
All main sites and virtually all university buildings
are linked by fibre optic cable to the University backbone. If you
wish to investigate the options available to install a data network
connection please contact the Helpdesk at MITS.
Domain Name Service (DNS)
The Domain Name Service provides the name to address
mapping function for the internet. It exists as a distributed
database across the internet maintained by a process of delegated
authority. The UWIMona names servers are authorized to store
and supply naming information about computers in the uwimona.edu.jm
and the .jm domain. The DNS is managed by Engineers in Technology
Services of MITS.
