The department has an active Staff/Student Liaison Committee which has representation from each course at each level by students, and two undergraduate staff coordinators.
Meetings are held twice per semester and minutes are taken and sent through the department to the Deputy Principal, Mona Campus. If necessary, that office writes to the Head of Department requesting explanations on issues requiring departmental intervention.
Course Representatives
Course Representatives (Class Reps) are an important part of the University's quality system and they sit on the Staff/Student Liaison Committee. Students from each level (year) of every course can become Class Reps. Reps are appointed for one year at the start of the semester and are elected by their classmates.
Class Reps are the first point of contact for students wishing to raise concerns or options about their education or the University. A Course Rep is expected to be the voice, eyes and ears for the students in his or her group and should try to assist in remedying problems on their behalf.
Course Evaluation Questionnaires
These are handed out towards the end of the semester and they seek students' comments on Course matters, e.g. content, laboratories, coursework etc. They allow you to comment on such things as, how difficult you found the module and how effective you found the teaching to be.
The University does take note of what the students report and every effort is made to respond to concerns and problems. Even though you may be in your final year of study, your views will benefit other students in the future.
