of LIAJA, she presently co-chairs the Association’s Research
and Publications Working Party. She is also the Honorary Executive
Secretary of the Commonwealth Library Association (COMLA) and
a member of the International Federation of Library Associations
(IFLA) Round Table for the Management of Library Associations..
For her contributions to LIAJA, that Association named Mrs. Amenu-Kpodo
its first Librarian of the Year in 2002. Later, in 2003, The Association
of College, Universities and Research Institutions Libraries (ACURIL)
at its 33rd session elected her Information Professional of the
Year for the English-speaking Caribbean in recognition of “excellence
in administrative and academic performance and…distinguished
professional work at the local level and in the Caribbean Region.”
Mrs. Amenu-Kpodo makes time to share her library skills with
the broader Jamaican Society by serving with the University Council
of Jamaica as an assessor of tertiary institution libraries. She
also serves on the UNESCO National Commission for Jamaica Committee
on Information for All and the committee promoting World Book
and Copyright Day.
