The University of the West Indies, Mona Library, regrets the passing of our colleague, Ms. Yulandé Lindsay on January 18, 2024.

Ms. Lindsay joined The UWI Mona in 2019 as a Librarian in the West Indies and Special Collections (WISC) of the Mona Library.

Ms. Lindsay came to the Mona Campus with years of experience working with audio-visual material and digitization projects at the National Library of Jamaica. Since joining The UWI, she honed her skills with essential library tools, including Digital Humanities approach, worked to introduce state of the art technology used in preserving the UWI’s microfilm, collection and highlighted special collections through finding aids and exhibitions. Ms. Lindsay was lauded by her colleagues for her easy rapport, positive attitude, constant readiness to offer guidance, train team members, her vast knowledge and genuine passion whenever she worked in varied areas whether Information Literacy sessions, liaison duties in the Departments ofHistory, Literatures in English, Language, Linguistics and Philosophy, or organizing and charring numerous library events.

Ms. Lindsay faithfully served The UWI up to the time of her death. She worked diligently to develop a niche for Digital Humanities in academic libraries in the Caribbean. A testament to her love of learning and engagement was in the form of her involvement in various professional associations related to the Library and Information profession, Jamaican history and Caribbean literature.

The University extends condolences to the family and friends of the late Ms. Lindsay.
