David Russell is the tourism specialist for CIDA’s
CPEC project for the Caribbean. A graduate of the University
of Pennsylvania, he has 35 years experience in land use planning
and tourism consulting. He was a Partner in one of Canada’s
leading tourism consulting firms for 20 years and is now an
independent tourism consultant for clients such as the OAS
and International Finance Corporation. His tourism work has
included tourism development strategies including eco and
community tourism for Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Antigua
and several destinations in Canada. In Asia, he was the lead
tourism consultant for the development of tourism standards
for Nepal in a wide variety of sectors including trekking,
river rafting, nature walking tours and mountaineering. He
has also completed feasibility and finance analysis for hotels,
resorts and tourism attractions in Canada, the Caribbean,
and Central America and designed the first self-financing
ntional park in the Caribbean.
