Pearl Bergan, MPhil student in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology, The University of the West Indies, Mona, was among more than 3000 attendees at the ‘Our Ocean Youth Leadership Summit’ held at the 9th Our Ocean Conference in Athens, Greece on April 15 - 17, 2024. The Youth Summit signifies a commitment to involve and empower the next generation in tackling key challenges in areas like Marine Protected Areas, Sustainable Blue Economy, Climate-Ocean Nexus, Maritime Security, Sustainable Fisheries, and Marine Pollution. The conference held under the theme “Our Ocean, Our Potential”, focused on sustainable tourism, green shipping, marine plastic reduction, and the green transition in the Mediterranean. Her participation was facilitated by the Sustainable Ocean Alliance and the Government of Greece.
