Activity CentreRunners

A unique component of the Mona Centre's programme will be activities for Seniors, in particular, staff members' relatives. It will provide activites that cater to the social, psychological and physical well-being of these seniors on a daily basis, as well as, a "drop-in" programme where seniors can attend to participate in specific activites, or attend for particular periods of time.

The programme will also be uesd by various other disciplines, hence exposing them to the multidisciplinary approach needed to address ageing issues. Therefore, oppertunities will exits to facilitate and collaborate with such programmes as, Nursing, Social Work and Physiotherapy for field placements and other activites.

By catering to the relatives of staff members, the programme will help meet the need of caring for the elderly relatives and provide leadership in this area through the development of models and standards.

Third Age Courses

Another activity of the Mona Centre will be to train seniors using the International 'Third Age' Model. This programme will help seniors do courses for retaining, improving selfesteem and self-actualization purposes

Pre-retirement Programmes

There is an increasing need for pre-retirement programmes for various companies and industries. Therefore the Centre will offer such courses.

Research

Research activities will be determinedby need, collaborative links and availabe funding.
The research will be in several areas including the documentation of the state of ageing, and related factors, successful ageing and model age-related programmes. The research programmes will bild on the already existing collaboration between the World Health Organization, other International and Local Agencies.
