The Cayman Islands, consisting of the islands
of Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac, are
situated just south of Cuba and are thus prone
to many hurricanes that affect the Caribbean hurricane
belt.

Government Strategies
Following the 2004 Hurricane season, the government of the Cayman
Islands decided to centralize the coordination of disaster
response. Required legislation for the establishment of
NEMA was drafted in 2005, though the office has not yet
been established.
