Located in Central America between Mexico and
Guatemala,
Belize is part of the Carribbean hurricane belt
and has suffered severe hurricanes, particularly in
1931 and 1961 which devastated much of the country.
It is vulnerable to hurricanes originating in both
the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.
