Profile
Aruba, located south of the Caribbean Hurricane belt, is spared much
of the
worst weather of the Hurricane season, which makes
it a popular tourist destination. It is however not
entirely safe from Hurricanes, such as Hurricane Hazel
(1954) which caused extensive damage to local infrastructure.
Periodic droughts and earthquakes are also a hazard
of the island. |
Government Strategies
Modeled after the Dutch model of Disaster Management, with the Fire Department Acting as the primary agency in charge in the event of disaster.
